3 Online Interior Design Tools You Can’t Afford to Live Without

systems

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again… and then a few more times, probably. I’ve made all the mistakes, and learned from them, so you don’t have to. When I say I’ve “engineered the suck” out of creating and building a successful design business, I mean it. I got to where I am today by finding new and effective ways to maximize my profits and productivity, without having to pour 26 hours a day into my work like I once was.

I started my business without the help of any online tools, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say things have gotten much more efficient since I’ve implemented these. So take my advice, don’t be a hero! Start using these three online interior design tools to help run your business like the boss you’re meant to be!

Harness the Power of Social Media

You can literally build your empire on social media, for free. This is the best way to showcase your designs and get your fantastic face out there for all the world to see… and hire! Starting now, GO! Start capturing snaps of everything you do. Start to finish installs, shopping adventures to vintage markets, and even your employees in action.

There’s a place for all of this on social media and with every post, you’ll draw in more views… this eventually will lead into more discussion of your name, and then more clients! But if the thought of algorithms and posting gives you hives, don’t stress. You can find a social media wiz to do all this for you (psst I coach on how to do this effectively, too!).

Using a planning tool like Tailwind or Planoly is a must for getting your social media life in order. These apps make it so easy to plan your posts, and to help you visualize your overall social media presence. But again, the social media world is not for everyone, and you definitely don’t have to learn all the ropes by yourself- I’m here for you, if you need me.

Don’t Try to Do it All Yourself, Use Design Software

Again, do not be the hero! There’s absolutely no reason for you to try to do it all. There’s software out there that will take the headache out of design and replace it with a little more wusah. Get back to the part of design you love, your art, with the help of a design software.

Foyr is one of the design world’s leading companies for interior designers, paving the way with their new Foyr Neo software. It has everything a designer could ever dream of having to complete an entire project from beginning to end. It’s all right there at your fingertips.

Fully Embrace Online Meeting Apps

Google Meet and Zoom have gotten a lot of action lately, making it easier for people to work from home. But hosting online events and meetings can also really cut down on the amount of time you spend in your car.

While it’s great to be able to meet face to face with clients as much as possible, it can get to be a little bit of a hassle driving to and from their home every time they have a question. By hosting virtual office hours or just hopping on a call, you can eliminate some of your windshield time and use that for other links. Like, I don’t know, having a glass of wine to celebrate that big new client you landed? Or finally having time to put some effort into your own home instead of someone else’s for a change?

I know exactly what it’s like to feel overworked, overwhelmed, and underpaid as an interior designer. That’s why I started my own interior design coaching program, Designed for the Creative Mind.

From fabrics to finances, I’ll coach you through the business side of running a thriving, profitable interior design business (without boring you to tears — and that’s a promise).
